How old is the battery pack?

Every used listing here shows the battery year and chemistry we hold on file. A lead-acid pack past four years should be priced as a near-term $900 to $1,800 replacement; a lithium pack of the same age has most of its service life ahead of it. What is the difference between used and pre-owned?

Nothing, in practice — the trade is inconsistent about the words. Everything on this page is a cart that had a previous owner, was taken in on trade or at auction, and was inspected and reconditioned before it reached the floor. We use "used" and "pre-owned" interchangeably and price to condition, not to the label.

What does a used golf cart cost?

What to watch for on a test drive

Drive it up the steepest grade on the lot, twice. A cart that slows on the second pass is showing voltage sag, which points to a tired pack no matter what the year on the label says. Check that the charger is the one that came with the cart, and that all four tires match.

Electric carts are quiet, need no fuel, and cost roughly $0.50–$1.50 to fully charge; lithium packs last 8–10 years and charge in 3–5 hours. Gas carts offer longer continuous range and instant refueling, which suits large properties, hunting and hilly terrain. For neighborhood, resort and beach driving, electric — especially lithium — is the more common choice.

How many passengers can a golf cart carry?

Standard carts seat 2 or 4 passengers. Extended-frame models seat 6, and limousine-style carts seat 8. Six-passenger carts are the most popular choice for beach towns and golf communities during the Memorial Day event because rear seats can flip to a cargo deck.

A lithium (LiFePO4) golf cart battery pack typically lasts 8–10 years or 3,000–5,000 charge cycles, compared with 4–6 years for lead-acid batteries. Lithium packs need no watering, weigh far less, charge faster, and hold voltage to the end of the discharge, so the cart does not slow down as the pack drains.

Are golf carts actually cheaper during the Memorial Day sale?
